Next-Generation Sequencing: Sample Drop-Off Locations
For your convenience, the MGH CCIB DNA Core provides a free daily sample pick-up service for the Mass General Brigham research community. Each business day (Monday through Friday, with the exception of MGH holidays), samples dropped off at one of our seven remote drop-off locations (see below) will be picked up and delivered to our facility.
At some of our drop box locations, boxes for organizing your sample tubes are provided. Please attach the order form with a rubber band. Upon sample receipt, all empty sample boxes will be returned with the corresponding transport cooler (blue or red). If you should not find any empty boxes to submit your samples, please check the transport cooler and kindly remove all empty boxes to prevent these from shuttling back to our facility.
Alternatively, you can tape your sample tubes either directly on the order form or place them in any type of secondary container available to you (for example a 50-ml Falcon tube). In the latter case, please attach the order form with a rubber band.
IMPORTANT:
We are currently offering our Next-Generation Sequencing services for individual samples and full plates once a week, beginning each Wednesday. The deadline for sample arrival at the Core Facility (38 Sidney St. Cambridge) is 4pm. If you are using one of our dropbox locations for sample delivery, please place the order in the cooler by Wednesday mid-morning to ensure timely delivery. If you should miss this cutoff time, your samples will be entered into the queue and processed during the following cycle.
Samples may be submitted early and they will be stored at the core under the appropriate conditions until the Wednesday start date. Full plates will be processed on a first come, first serve basis and the turnaround time will depend on the current demand. We ask researchers to notify the NGS Team Manager ahead of time to allow us to plan accordingly.
Simches Research Building - Molecular Biology Department (7th floor)
The sample drop box (= blue or red transport cooler) can be found in the refrigerator located in the central corridor, on the other side of the glass doors of the elevator lobby.
Courier will not pick up any samples that have been placed on the refrigerator shelves. Sample boxes are provided. Key card access is required.

Simches Research Building - Lobby (1st floor)
The sample drop box is located in front of the glass wall on the left side of the main entrance. This drop box is not refrigerated.

MGH Main Campus - Jackson Building (13th floor)
The sample drop box (= blue or red transport cooler) can be found in the refrigerator located in the elevator lobby.
Courier will not pick up any samples that have been placed on the refrigerator shelves. Sample boxes are provided.

MGH Charlestown (CNY; 6th floor)
The sample drop box (= blue or red transport cooler) can be found in the refrigerator in room 6122B, East side.

Ragon Institute of MIT and Harvard - Lobby (1st floor)
The sample drop box (blue or red transport cooler box) is located in the 1st floor lobby, in the small storage/coat room next to the entrance glass door.
This drop box is not refrigerated.

Brigham and Women's Building for Transformative Medicine - 60 Fenwood Road, Boston
The sample drop box is located on the ground floor, in the room next to the freight elevators (also accessible directly from the loading dock on Vining Street). BWH ID badge may be required.
Cut-off time (for same-day pick-up): 8:15 AM
New Research Building, Harvard Medical School - 77 Louis Pasteur Avenue
The sample drop box is located on the ground floor, behind the main staircase at the Blackfan Street entrance.

You also have the option to personally deliver your samples to the core facility:
MGH CCIB DNA Core Facility - 38 Sidney Street, Cambridge
The facility is located on the 1st floor of the Clark Building (Suite 100). Building can be accessed on all business days, Mondays through Fridays (8:00 AM - 5:45 PM). The drop slot is to the left of the entrance door to Suite 100. Drop box is not refrigerated but is constantly checked by core personnel.
