Our facility will be closed on Monday, December 25 and on Monday, January 1 due to the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Please expect some brief delays for all DNA Core services during this period. On both days, our courier service will not be operating, and our on-site drop box will only be accessible with a key card as the entrance to the building will be locked.
Ragon Institute Researchers: If the internal glass door to the drop box area at the Ragon Institute is locked due to a holiday closure, our courier will not have access to the cooler on those days. Please check with Ragon facilities for scheduled closures in that area so you may plan accordingly.

The CCIB DNA Core will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24, 2023. Our Courier Service will not be operating on either day, and samples will not be picked up from any of our remote drop box locations. Direct sample drop-off at 38 Sidney Street is also not available on these days as the entrance to the main building will be locked. We will resume normal hours on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Effective October 1, 2022: FY'23 Service Fees

Dear Core Users:
After discussion with MGB Research Finance Management, our FY'23 service fee structure has now been finalized and will go into effect as of October 1, 2022.
We are pleased to announce that we were able to lower our NGS-based sequencing fees. Only small increases were added to our mouse genotyping, plasmid prep, and Sanger services to reflect increases in the costs of reagents, consumables, and labor for those services.
These fees support our continuous process improvement efforts and the implementation of additional and/or improved service features. The changes are mandated by Mass General Brigham policies, which dictate that cores recover their operating costs without generating excess revenue.
All orders that begin processing in September but complete on or after October 1, 2021 will be invoiced at current (FY'22) pricing. Orders that are placed close to the end of September but are not processed before October 1, 2022 will be invoiced according to our new FY'23 pricing structure.
We appreciate your past patronage and look forward to serving your future research needs.

New Pricing Structure for NGS Services

We are pleased to announce a change to our pricing structure for our NGS-based services. Beginning October 1st 2020, orders of 48-95 samples in plate format (filled by rows) will receive a discounted rate. Orders of 96 samples in plate format will continue to receive the full plate 'bulk' rate and orders of 1-47 samples will receive the individual sample rate.
We are committed to advancing research productivity and generating the highest quality data. We hope our new pricing option supports a large number of innovative projects.

Effective October 1, 2020: FY'21 Service Fees

Dear Core Users:
Our FY'21 service fee structure has now been set after discussion with MGB Research Finance Management and goes into effect as of October 1, 2020. The new service fees reflect small increases in the costs of reagents, consumables and labor for specific services. These fees support both our continuous process improvement efforts and the implementation of additional service features.
All orders that started being processed this month but are completed on or after October 1, 2020, will be invoiced at current (FY'20) pricing. Orders that are placed close to the end of September but are not processed before October 1, 2020, will be invoiced according to our new FY'21 pricing structure.

New Sample Pick-up Time for Charlestown Location

Dear Charlestown Researchers:
The CCIB DNA Core would like to make a new recommendation for sample drop off at our Charlestown location. The courier will pick up samples anytime between 10:30am and 11:00am, Monday-Friday. We have not changed our courier service provider. However, a 10:30am pick up may occur occasionally, and without notice, in the case of a substitute driver.

Effective October 1, 2019: FY'20 Service Fees

Dear Users,
After discussion with Partners Research Finance Management, our FY'20 service fee structure has now been finalized and will go into effect as of October 1, 2019. We are pleased to announce that our Sanger and bulk NGS-based DNA Sequencing service fees will remain the same for FY'20, with no increase. Our individual tube NGS-based services will decreased slightly to reflect a recent process improvement. The cost savings is being passed onto you, our valued clients.
These fees support our continuous process improvement efforts and the implementation of additional and/or improved service features. The changes are mandated by Partners policies, which dictate that cores recover their operating costs without generating excess revenue.
All orders that begin processing in September but complete on or after October 1, 2019 will be invoiced at current (FY'19) pricing. Orders that are placed close to the end of September but are not processed before October 1, 2019 will be invoiced according to our new FY'20 pricing structure.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, our regular operations will be modified as follows: The CCIB DNA Core will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23, 2018. Our Courier Service will not be operating on either day, and samples will not be picked up from any of our remote dropbox locations. Effective October 1, 2018: FY'19 Service Fees

Dear Core Users:
After discussion with Partners Research Finance Management, our FY'19 service fee structure has now been finalized and will go into effect as of October 1, 2018.
We are pleased to announce that our individual tube Sanger and NGS-based DNA Sequencing service fees will remain the same for FY'19, with no increase. Our bulk rates and additional service fees will increase slightly to reflect increases in the costs of reagents, consumables and labor. These fees support our continuous process improvement efforts and the implementation of additional and/or improved service features. The changes are mandated by Partners policies, which dictate that cores recover their operating costs without generating excess revenue. We like to remind our valued customers to please budget for core services with an annual inflationary increase of 3-5%.
All orders that begin processing in September but complete on or after October 1, 2018 will be invoiced at current (FY'18) pricing. Orders that are placed close to the end of September but are not processed before October 1, 2018 will be invoiced according to our new FY'19 pricing structure.
We appreciate your past patronage and look forward to serving your future research needs.

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Dear Core Users,
The CCIB DNA Core will be closed November 24 and November 25, 2016. Our Courier Service is not operating on either day, and samples will not be picked up from any of our remote dropbox locations. Direct sample drop-off at 38 Sidney Street is also not available on both days since the entrance to the main building (The Clark Building) will be locked on both days. The core facility will resume its regular business hours on November 28, 2016.
Please note that you might experience 2 to 3 business days of delay in the processing of your order(s) due to the holiday break. We are working very hard to reduce this delay as much as possible - but we simply believe that our dedicated core team deserves the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families. New Sample Dropbox at the Ragon Institute!

We are pleased to announce the establishment of a new sample dropbox location in the lobby (1st floor) of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard. Free pickup service will be provided Mondays through Fridays (with the exception of official MGH Holidays).
Courier service for this new dropbox will officially start on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. Please place your samples and a copy of your order form in the dropbox no later than 11 AM.

Dear Core Users:
Our FY16 service fee structure has now been set after discussion with Partners Research Finance Management and will be effective October 1, 2015. The new service fees reflect the continuing increases in the costs of reagents, consumables and labor, and allow us to guarantee that the top-quality of our services will not be compromised in any way and to sustain our continued process improvements efforts. Although we would very much like to retain our current rates, these increases were mandated by Partners policies that dictate that Cores recover their operating costs while not generating revenues in excess of their operating costs.

Please be advised to plan your experiments/orders according to the relevant deadlines:Sequencing data for samples submitted in time for courier pick-up on Friday, August 29, will be available on Tuesday, September 2.
Oligonucleotide synthesis orders received on Friday, August 29 (before 5 pm!) will be delivered and/or available for pick-up on Tuesday, September 2. All orders placed between August 30 and September 1 will be ready on Wednesday, September 3.
96-well Plasmid DNA Preparation orders received on Friday, August 29, will be processed on the same day or - dependent on the respective order volumes - on Tuesday, September 2. These orders will be entering the DNA sequencing pipeline and/or will be delivered to the corresponding drop-box location(s) on Tuesday, September 2 or on Wednesday, September 3.
To ensure the standard weekly turnaround of our Mouse Genotyping services, orders should be submitted by Tuesday, September 2 and must be received by our core facility before 1 pm. Results for all orders received on September 2 will be available on Friday, September 5.

The CCIB DNA Core is excited to announce the launch of its newly designed and improved website, which goes live today, Tuesday 8th July 2014 and is located at this URL address: https://ccibtest0.mgh.harvard.edu:8443/new-cgi-bin/.
Our goal for the new website is to improve user friendliness, usability and appeal and to provide our current and prospective customers with an easier way to learn about our service portfolio with most accurate information. The new segmentation of the entrance to our service portfolio allows visitors to enter either via the service category or via a specific service of interest. Our clients can access information easily and on their own choice rather than sift through everything to decide and/or to find what is of interest to them. The addition of a search functionality to the new site allows to search the website content. The website will be updated on a regular basis, with news, service launches and new content.
For the next couple of weeks, you will be able to toggle between the new and the old site. Once the old site retires, you will be automatically redirected to the new URL.

On-site Oligonucleotide Pick-Up Station Moves to 65 Landsdowne Street

Dear Users of our DNA Synthesis Services,
As of Monday, May 12, 2014, our current onsite pick-up station (38 Sidney Street, Cambridge, MA) will be moved to the Partners Research Building (65 Landsdowne Street, Cambridge, MA). This new pick-up station will be located behind the security desk in the lobby (1st floor) to provide convenient and easy access to your oligonucleotide orders.
As usual, orders will be available for personal pick-up at this new location around 4 pm. Our onsite pick-up location will be discontinued.

We are pleased to announce that we have established an additional dropbox location for your sequencing samples. The new dropbox is conveniently located in the lobby (1st floor) of the Simches Building, in front of the glass wall on the left side of the entrance. Also for this new dropbox location, free pickup service is available Mondays through Fridays (with the exception of official MGH Holidays). Samples will be picked up at 10 am and delivered to our Core Facility in time for the day's queue. Please place your samples and a copy of your order form in the dropbox before the cut-off time.

Throughout the previous fiscal year, the Core has strongly engaged in continuous process improvement efforts to further increase the value of existing services and to rollout new Custom Molecular Biology & Sequencing services. Also in the new fiscal year, the Core will stay committed to evaluating and developing new services in order to meet the changing research needs of the Partners research community.

Effective May 10, 2013: Launch of Long-Read DNA Sequencing Service

Dear DNA Core Customers,
We are pleased to announce that effective immediately the DNA Core Facility will be providing a Long-Read DNA Sequencing Service as part of its Custom Molecular Biology & Sequencing Service portfolio. Compared to our standard sequencing protocol (typical Q20 read length > 700 bases), this new service delivers an additional 200 bases on average and can yield up to 1000 Q20 bases per sample. At this point in time, a minimum of 12 samples has to be submitted to take advantage of this service. Turnaround is between 24 and 48 hours. Please note that the rates for the new long-read service (detailshere) differ from those of our standard sequencing services and reflect slightly increased costs due to the implementation of a separate workflow, increased instrument time, and processing of partially filled plates.
Sample Submission for Long-Read Sequencing:
Please select the Long Read Sequencing option from the order menu under the Sequencing tab of our website and complete the submission sheet using the same guidelines that are in place for standard read sequencing orders.

We are pleased to announce that the fees for our bulk sequencing, bulk microsatellite analysis and 96-well plasmid preparation services remain the same as in the previous fiscal year. Wherever fees have been increased, these increases were mandated by Partners policies that dictate that Cores recover their operating costs while not generating revenues in excess of their operating costs.
As a result of the Core's continuous process improvement efforts and its commitment to constantly evaluate and develop new services in order to meet the changing research needs of the Partners research community in a timely manner, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new Custom Molecular Biology and Sequencing Services that include our previous Plasmid Verification and Primer Walking Services, midi- and maxi-scale plasmid DNA preparations as well as special sequencing protocols. A detailed description of our new custom service portfolio will be provided on our new and improved website which we are planning to launch in February 2013.
